PW Campaigners: Do You Know What You’re Paying For?
Cruising around the blogosphere dropping cards, I noticed the preponderance of splog sites riddled with Project Wonderful ads, most of which are empty (showing the Your Ad Here message). This reminds me of the splogs riddled with 336 width text ads by google.
The funny thing is that most advertisers in Project Wonderful add these sites to their campaigns. Maybe the cost to advertise isn’t much (0.00-0.01) but it’s still 0.01 that the advertiser pays for an ad that is at the bottom of the page or at the remote lower left side.
I had some luck doing campaigns on sites with above the fold Project Wonderful ads, but now I have decided to manually check the sites first before placing my ad. I don’t care if the site has an extremely low Alexa ranking or not, as long as my ad is at a location that’s above the fold and isn’t already saturated with 125×125 banners.
We saw the rise of “for google only” sites, now it’s the age of the “for PW only” sites.
