We meet people in our daily off line lives and over the internet. Under the latter, they get to know us via our blogs and our online presence in forums and communities. Do we know exactly what they remember about us?
For sure, not everyone will remember us a few hours after the encounter, but we leave behind an image in their minds. The thing about knowing how your brand is perceived is that you have no control as to how others see it; you can only do your best to improve it and make it effective enough for others to remember you longer than they would a fixture.
We are given the privilege of introducing ourselves once and only once to people. Some know of us only through the others who we introduced ourselves to. That one time introduction is enough to leave a mark, to inspire, and to incite a reaction.
People will more likely remember something that provoked a feeling, it could be delight or the opposite, and this entirely depends on your objectives. Opportunities are sometimes like cracks in the wall, narrow and unyielding, but if we find a way to get our points across without much effort, we have mastered the art of self promotion.

Our sponsor, Brand Identity Guru, reiterates that Branding your online business is easier when you have established what you want people to remember about you.

As I was talking to a few friends I met online over chat a few months back, I suddenly realized how blogging could be related to self image and self esteem. You see, the willingness to put your thoughts and emotions out there for all the world to see takes a lot of courage. You won’t always get an applause, sometimes you feel like you’re merely winking in the dark, but generally, you know that someone will come across your article and react to it, whether that person leaves a comment or not.
One woman in particular prefers not to blog because they feel like their days are boring and no one will ever want to know what they do each boring day. I let that pass. Then, I ask what she does to make a tarnished belt buckle bright again. Seemingly surprised at the change of topic, she answered the way she always does, with a how-to list. Aha!
Everyone has something to contribute over the internet, everyone knows something other people won’t even dream of knowing. It’s just the fear of being ridiculed that keeps us from getting there. Her knowledge can be used to populate a blog about fine jewelry, like those on this British Jewelry maker’s site, Silver Jewellery, which sells the most captivating Silver Bracelets and Silver Pendants.
Anyone who loves something with a passion won’t be able to stop talking about it. And, this is the essence of writing about your interests.
BTW, the diva-friendly jewelry site mentioned above sells handcrafted silver jewelry at a bargain. Look at these photos from Silver Jewellery to know what my idea of ‘diva jewelry’ is all about.

Have you noticed how people blog? Some talk about their varied interests, some talk about their families, and some others talk about the things that drive them to succeed. One thing that’s common among those who chose to share their lives over the net is the willingness to interact with the world. Putting your thoughts out there for all the world to see is therapy to some, including myself.
If you haven’t visited my other (more evil) blog yet, please do so using the link above.
As you can see, I keep a multitude of blogs. Maybe it’s just the way I think, really. If I want to concentrate on something, I have to separate it from other things. The themes and voices of my blogs differ, but those who already know me well could tell that those are all mine. See, a part of me is in every word, every thought, every element of my blogs. All the nuances that make up my online presence represent me, and all the weirdly girly goodness that I am.
If you still don’t have an online presence, build one now. Share your thoughts with the world and let others find you. These are people who are like you yet unique in their own small ways.

For those looking for a nicer name for their free Blog, here’s a good one: diva.thoughts.com. This name could still be available, and you don’t have to pay anything to get it. Thoughts.com is a new blogging platform for those who are like me; blogging enthusiasts who love to type on a keyboard. They were also kind enough to compensate this diva for this mention.

People don’t need to comment in blogs, they don’t even have to read. Those few who do need rewarding.
Starting bloggers don’t know,or don’t care, about nofollow/dofollow, and how important it is to bloggers in the long run. In a nutshell, nofollow means you get credited by google for being linked in another blog. Links are important why? They help reaffirm your web presence, tells people and search engines that you’re out there. Being linked to is akin to being affiliated, or at least talked about. Dofollow means your rank improves with the linking, whenever your link appears without the nofollow command, your rankings improve. Why do people put in nofollow to some links? Why take the credit away? Nofollow links are there for advertisement purposes.
I have the no nofollow comment policy in Evilwoobie.com because I want to reward my commenters. I draw the line when I am spammed, and no matter what, a good comment is good only when it adds to the discussion and isn’t there for advertisement only. If it’s obvious that someone just commented to advertise, I do what I do to advertisements, put the no-follow tag.
Harsh or just fair?

It’s trickier for Blogger blogs to create pages, and sometimes Blogger users like me need to improvise. First of all, of course, we must ask ourselves why we need to create pages.
Unlike blog posts, pages are those places in your blog under the Wordpress platform that are separate from the dynamically changing posts. Pages remain constant and are usually in places where people can access them easily.

That pages are constant and permanently fixed in places that people can see means we should use them to bring in more readers. How? We can publish the posts that best represent our blogs in these pages. For example, in evilwoobie, I use the pages to share my knowledge of Zodiac signs and Palmistry; as well as my recommendations for online dating and, of course, my About page, which directly tells the guests who I am and why my blog is all about love. I also have my contact page, where people can send me messages; some of these messages are ‘for my eyes only’ and do not belong in the comment section.
Here are some ways to maximize your pages.
1. Go beyond the normal About Me page, and open the comments to suggestions or just to say hi. Sometimes blog owners simply rely on posts to communicate with their readers, but these posts get bumped down by more posts so that the conversation is lost (particularly if you don’t have the subscribe to comments plugin)
2. Publish the quotes that you want to be remembered most for in your pages. Push your personality. Show what you’re about in a page, rather than on posts. This page could go hand in hand with the About me page, but different in a way that it tells a story of who you are, not just facts.
For Blogger bloggers like me who don’t know much about subdomain creation in blogger, a post created in the past could serve as a makeshift page that people can visit over and over. You can just create a link to that page on your sidebar.
Example is the Thank You, Entrecard! that you see now in my sidebar, just below the Entrecard widget.
